Just My Luck

So the fever that I had for just over a week and thought was possibly from viral meningitis (the symptoms were a perfect match: constant throbbing headache, persistent pain and stiffness in the neck and upper back, fever with no obvious sign of infection) seemed to have moved on...for about 48 hours. It is now back, lower, and accompanied by... **drumroll** ...swollen white-speckled tonsils! At least the headache and neck pain is gone?
Yes, that's right folks. It seems that the viral infection has moved on to my tonsils. And there's no point in going to a doctor, because all they'll tell me is I have a virus in my tonsils and will get better in a week or two. Seems surgery is only used in extreme cases now, where the tonsils get large enough to block breathing/swallowing/etc, or where the condition lasts for a very long period of time. Mine aren't that big yet, but damn it's sure as hell annoying!
For the time being, I'm drinking warm water with honey and lemon juice in it and not talking, and spending my days off just resting. Talking is bad for tonsillitis. If they do start to get really big (or really painful, or start leaking strange substances), rest assured I will seek actual medical attention. Because I'm stubborn, not stupid - despite what you may think,

On the plus side, at least I know I'm not contagious, since Bobby would definitely be showing symptoms by now if I were.

Date: 2009-02-23 11:55 pm (UTC)I, uh, was going to gargle saltwater, because along with lemon, ginger, and honey, it's my standard treatment for throat and nose issues (well, with the nose I irrigate with it, but close enough). But then I realized I don't own any salt. ^_^;; I'll have to rectify that.

Date: 2009-02-24 06:20 am (UTC)How frustrating. The treatments sound good to me. Rest is probably important here, and knowing you...
Resting on your days off, means you are working a normal schedule...? >__< (Squinty)
Like, who's Bobby? (Valley girl voice)
