Wow, Soom. Wait times, WHAT?

I know that a lot of people have been agitated about Soom's wait times lately, especially with the releases of the Monthly Dolls. I've thought, for the most part, that the whining I've seen was pretty much just that - whining. People seemed to be putting dolls on layaway, taking three months to pay them off, and then saying, "But I ordered the doll three-and-a-half months ago, why is it taking so long?"

However, I'm a bit shocked at the answer I got to a question I asked them on their Q&A board a couple days ago.

I ordered a pair of the FFD jointed hands last month, paid immediately in full. That was over three weeks ago. Now, I'm certainly not upset that my hands haven't shipped yet - I can see by looking on the Q&A board how busy Soom is. However, since they don't have an estimated production time noted on the page for the jointed hands, I left a note for them asking if they had any idea of what the shipping date might be.

Their answer? 1-3 months. 1-3 months. For a single pair of hands.

I suspect Soom is starting to realize they've gotten themselves in over their head.

Oh, I'm glad you posted this. I ordered a pair of hands too on a whim. I was wondering when they would ship. You answered my question.

I ordered hands last month too. The funny thing is...I don't have the doll they were for anymore.

Man, I knew I should have ordered Cream White instead for my Hound. Dumb, dumb...

I've ordered a pair of hands on the ffd every month for the past four months and every month I get them right when the next ffd begins - so don't lose hope yet!

That's good to hear. I was just so startled by their answer: 1-3 months! Not only is that a pretty long wait (on the extreme end) for just a pair of hands, even if they are jointed, but it's also a really WIDE range for the estimated production time. You'd think they would be able to pin it down more closely than that. Two months is...a lot of room for deviation.

I would assume Soom's popularity is just going to snowball from here, too, so long as they can keep the wait time from stretching out to the point of freaking people like this.
Can't afford it, but man, those hands sound so awesome.
