Yes, that's right, ladies and gentlemen. I have just received what is fast shaping up to be my first black eye (it's a bit startling that I've never had one before, but I've generally been good at deflecting things), courtesy of an angry patient brought in by the local police department. She kicked (with her right foot) the left side of my face, smack over my eye and the bridge of my nose, as I was restraining her left foot. Hit me hard enough that she knocked me back into the wall.

Felony 3 assault. She's such an idiot. Damn, my neck and head hurt. Jesus. One of the ER docs keeps shining a penlight in my eyes and making noises about having me check in as a patient. I told him I wanted to wait and see if it was really necessary (even though L&I will cover all associated costs). I'm dizzy, having trouble typing. We'll see how I feel at the end of the shift.

Krikey. That hurts. And yesh, hurts just like that. The black eyes I've had, my head rang like a bell for days! Hope you don't need observation!

... uh ... satyr!crack ? ? ?

I'm beyond annoyed - so far, it looks like I won't actually have a shiner! My eye and nose are a bit swollen, and there's some very minor bruising, but apparently the ice pack that the nearest RN immediately slapped onto my eye took care of most of the damage, there. So I've got the pain, but nothing to show for it. My black-eye cherry has yet to actually be popped. Bugger.

Satyr!crack...well, I've got another installment almost ready to go, but I'm having trouble with getting the guys to do what I want them to do. I swear, these guys are the two most sentimental characters I've ever tried to work with... Pffft!

Do what the doc wants. Especially if you're dizzy. Like you said it's going to be covered.

Well, some dizzy is to be expected, after a knock to the head. However, I did end up checking in. They pushed me through in less than an hour (after much laughing about forcing the still-on-duty security officer into a hospital gown for x-rays), which is an incredible record for an ER.

Diagnosis? Whiplash. They said the headache is normal at this point, but if it's not gone by tonight when I come in to work they're running me through CT, just to be safe.

gah D: if you're dizzy it's not even a question, at least sit down or something! DX guh. I hope it's nothing really serious.

Just whiplash - painful, but not life threatening. I've got a bottle of oxycodone now, sitting on my bedside table, mocking me. Worst part is, I think I'm going to need to take some to be able to get to sleep.
>=( Motherfucker.

Yeouch! D: black eyes/whiplash are SO not cool. (Well, aside from black eyes maybe upping your street cred or something.) I hope you are doing ok, and at least resting up a bit!!!

I'm doing fine, but sadly, there is no black eye, and lots of whiplash (I would much rather the black eye, seriously). I've just slept for a whole 7 hours, and will probably get a bit more before I actually head to work in 4 hours. I have been drinking plenty of liquids, and...all the usual stuff you do for a head cold, which I figure can't hurt here. ^_~

Errrggh, yeah, sadly no street cred for whiplash. ;3 I hope you got more sleep and were feeling ok at work.<3

My street cred has just returned - I have a broken nose. XD

Aww, I'm sorry, Kiya! Whiplash is so... unglamorous, compared to a nice shiner. Here's hoping for a full recovery with no complications!

**grin** Thanks. Yeah, my eye is a bit puffy, and hurts like a bitch, but the actual color change is very minor. **sigh** It's kind of ridiculous that I don't bruise easily. I'd much rather the black eye than the whiplash. Hurts less, and in a less incapacitating way. Black eye is mostly ignorable. Whiplash is starting to look like it's going to require regular doses of Ibuprofen, so I can get on with work tonight and finishing packing for my move this week.

Jesus Christ, K,

I bumble around of a Saturday, go to sleep, wake up and WTF??????????

It's your brain and stuff, but I second Joey's point: Yeah, do what the docs say, even if it is not punk rock.

I can imagine a) the amusement and b) the usefulness from a career and also from a literary standpoint, but I wouldn't fuck around with a boot to the head. When the time comes, can you get someone to help you with your neck? Anyone up there you trust with PT?

**sigh**

Oh, don't worry! My head is fine - I mean, my brain is fine. The doctor wasn't worried about it overmuch, after he checked my eyes. Said if the headache and dizziness didn't go away within 48 hours, to come in for a CT, but that's all pretty much gone. My neck is a bit jacked, obviously, but will recover. My nose will heal, and the new shape is very fetching.

I...uh...hadn't thought about PT. XD I've had whiplash twice before and not needed any - I mean, the weird vertebrae activity in my neck from the car wreck is annoying, but nothing to really cry about, and the garbage can falling on my head didn't do any lasting damage, only muscular stuff.

My friend, I think you must have been my unconscious inspiration for Attagorn, the concierge of concierges. I think your line about your nose is going to come out of her mouth, somewhere in the first novel. XD

I've got bodywork on the brain right, now, still sorting out a minor injury from the Solano Stroll, and working pretty extensively on Sensei, as well. The tissue stuff can really positively impact quality of life, when it's handled well; good tissue work can help a lot.

I bet! Massages make me melt. I just go all putty-like, no matter how hard a person is digging.

Attagorn, really?! Rock ON!! I imagine she would have a very fetching nose, too. XD

I'm fine, don't worry. ^_^ It's not incapacitating. I'm supposed to watch it, when lifting over 20 lbs for about a week, but other than that it's not bad. And I got to go shooting yesterday, drilled the crap out of a pop can, so I feel much better. ^___^
