Excuse me while I go find a wall to bang my head against.

If this body (please ignore the strangely crossed eyes in the photos - apparently they can sculpt dolls that make me want to weep, but cannot yet place doll eyes correctly) were 1/3 scale, rather than 1/4, it would be the PERFECT option to serve as the incredibly-hard-to-find body I need for Jian. But noooooo...it's an MNF body, and all that posing and those muscles and everything will never, ever be a part of my crew because I'm determined to move away from the 1/4 scale dolls.

Jeebus. Look at the posing on this guy, right out of the box.

I may cry. Or go eat a cold dairy product with peanuts in it.

God that's nice. A grown up looking mini! Have you looked at the (oh so expensive) Dollstown 15 boy bodies? I think they are quite lovely for nicely but not overly muscled boy SD bodies.

I have (in fact, I own one, bought him back in March 2006), and I love them. But I've got this weird thing about not having more than one doll on the same body (which can be sad, when you find a body you really love), and also the big problem I've had in finding a body for Jian is that he's short - ideally, I'd need one that clocked in at 58cm. The DT 15Boy body is way too tall for him (which makes me want to cry, but not as much as the fact that this body is just perfect - aside from being in the wrong scale).

Hmmm. I must be getting close to menstruation. I'm feeling kind of weirdly emotional. Damn. The problem with getting my hormones under control is that they're starting to actually have a cyclical effect on my life, as opposed to just being a pain on a daily basis.

*whistling* the DolltiD was 57 or 58...
But yeah, the Minifee body is nice there.
Besides the eyes, I really don't like the photos done with the body against such a dark har contrast. They may be delaing with other issues (not wanting to make it lok as sexy as it really is or something for the censors) but that flats it out so you can't make out the details. With better lighting, they ought to look really great.

**sigh** Yeah, I know the Dollti bod was shorter. I do want one - but sadly, for an entirely DIFFERENT guy. It may happen someday - they're active again, even if it's those tiny dolls and not any of their Blodi line!

I would really like a dollstown but so far the money factor is preventing :(
I am 100 percent the same about having 2 bodies the same -- it would be dull. I only have a small number of dolls (3 and some floating heads right now) and so I want them to be distinctive. (I still might end up with 2 Soom supergems though coz there are so many of their heads that I love.)

Among short bodies, I really like my old (single jointed) Souldoll boy I picked up a little while ago. It's not as good a poser as a double jointed one, but it's nice solid resin and I like it aesthetically. Old elfdoll is short I think, but I've also heard it is really annoying.

I own two Dollstown 15 bodies (one girl and one guy), and they are INCREDIBLE. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I actually have an old ElfDoll body, too! ^_^ It's the one Jian used to be on, and while I don't mind the posing on it all that much, I've decided the musculature just isn't up to snuff for him. So it got adopted by another doll, and Jian has been a floating head since around early May of this year.

I used to have an older Souldoll boy body, and I liked it, but it just doesn't fit him, either. The shape isn't quite right. **whimper** Now the shape of this Active Line body? It's perfect. Its just the wrong size. TT_TT

Any hope of them doing ti as an SD13, do you think? The style is certainly mroe mature than is typical for the MNF size, that's an interesting trend on its own.
I hven't been keepng up with forums in the all story-eating-brainz bit lately.

No reply from them on that front yet (I broke down and eMailed them asking about it). Maybe if we all band together and write them a beautiful petition letter with lots of origami cranes or something, they'll do it. TT_TT At this point, I'm willing to try anything, including prostitution and putting my left kidney up on the auction block.

The eMail I sent to FairyLand:

Hello Dear Fairy Land!

I love the sculpt of your MiniFee Active-Line boy body. The posing, the joints, the muscles - they're all perfect. Sadly, I know a lot of people who don't collect 45cm size dolls. I'm one of them. I only collect dolls that are around 58-60cm tall.

Will you consider someday making a larger body for boys that has the same style of joints, and the beautiful Active-Line muscles? A body in the 58-59cm range? I know a lot of people who would love to own a 58cm boy with a body like that. I think he would be very popular, because there are not any boy bodies that are 58cm tall and have good muscles like your MiniFee Active-Line body has.

Thank you so much for your time.
Sincerely,
Kiya

And their reply:

Dear Kiya,

Thank you for your support in FairyLand dolls. It is rather difficult to comment on your question at this stage because our sculpting team is always working on preparing new projects, but until some visible progress is made it is hard for the administrators like myself to know what will be available in the future.

If you have any other inquiries please feel free to ask ^^

- FairyLand

So basically, not a flat-out no, more of a, "Stupid little fangirl, don't ask us about our plans, we're not telling you anything. Pfft." (Which makes me hopeful, even if it's without any reason.)

On one hand, I totally want to get a list of people together who are expressing an interest in a 58-60cm version of the male "A-Line" body, not so much as a petition as just to show FairyLand that there is a market for it. On the other hand, I'm vaguely worried that such a thing would be taken the wrong way.

Maybe I'll give it a few months and see what happens.

Hmm, dunno, but I read the note as a slightly frustrated administrator getting that blank look from the artists and some sort of cryptic answer that's impossible to translate into the real world. It's quite amusing.
You know that blank look, right?
And the totally wacko poetic zen answer, like, "Pigs appreciate the red maple leaves of autumn," and something sketchy of a couple rounds blobs and a vague comment that they could get just the right red silk at nine million dollars a yard for the costume.

Sigh.

Had a brainwave again this morning (the shower hit again, sigh) with the though that the two related pix of the man and woman in front of the dark wall were shots of Dance's genetic parents, or two chosen out of many. The dossier would show them as having completed a certain specific set of military tests, and the maybe having the dark jacket in common is diagnostic for the fact that they actually took all the steps and completed all the requirements, similar to picking up jewels in a dungeon. I'm also thinking that they had tissue samples on file, and that besides pasing certain sorts of cognitive and combat tests, they share a common set of physical parameters such as detailed blood types, antigens, that kind of thing. I'm also thinking that many of the people chosen as genetic sources are actually related in a familt that has a strong military background, and many of the people whose names show up as selected for this mysterious project have gone MIA, were referenced as died in combat, or simply disappeared from civilian life if their service was from an earlier period.

The barstids.

Now, that idea would take a lot of messing with the picture of the woman to make it less diagnostic for the Calvin Klein ad, or !!we could even reference it obliquely as one of the search results that leads to popping open this information.

I don't have the graphics program now that I used initially for it--very simple one, mostly tweaking things pixel by pixel--but I wanted to see what you think.

Now I think that's a VERY cool idea. I can see some anal retentive WUNPO researcher digging something like that up, and it getting tossed into the file along with all the rest.

I am not an artist. I could not do the tweaking that you did, to change those pictures. WOW.

Happened to read a post re: intriguing patterns in various color palettes (not just plaids) made in a pattern-generating art program.
I'm wondering if this could be useful to either you or dharma_slave?

**sigh** Yeah, it just screams Jian, doesn't it? My only improvement (aside from adding 16 cm to the height), if I were to suggest any at all, would be the toning on the legs and arms, which could be beefed/defined a little more to make them really work perfectly with the rest of the sculpt. But even that is a "well, if I had to pick ONE thing to improve, I guess I'd go with" sort of thing.

Okay, really going to bed now! Honest!!

Whoa. Now we can only hope that some nice company decides to use that level of ingenuity on a 1/3 scale body and makes it readily available, because *_* dude.

The poses look so fluid, too. My one big complaint with the volks bodies (minus the SD16) is the lack of fluidity in their poses. Volks might be "top dog" in some respects, but one of these days not redesigning the SD13 body might catch up to them... I really hope they notice and do something about it.

OMG, I KNOW. @_@ (CP and Luts still work together, right? If Luts released a Delf (non Super-Senior, non Senior) boy body like that MNF Active Line one, I'd be all over it in a heartbeat.)

Yeah, the SD13 boys are great, but in a market moving more and more toward poseability and mature sculpts, they're starting to fall behind the curve. Which is fine - there's not a thing wrong with their design and sculpting. But I suspect there may be a decrease in their popularity, in the future. And a definite increase in the hunting for their more mature SD17 line.

I'll be honest with you, I am so totally confused as to how those two companies are tied, it hurts my brain when I try to sort it out. x_X (Maybe you could email fairyland and see if they had any plans to translate that body into a larger scale? 8D)

True enough. You'd hope that the popularity of the SD17 might give them a hint or a nudge in that general direction, at least. People are all over that guy. x3 I'm curious about that body, and I'd love to have one, but it's very... leggy.
