Anyone who reads my LJ is doubtless familiar with Wren and Jian Yuan, but I'm also (slowly) putting together the core group of their coworkers in the World United Nation Police Organization (WUNPO). Here's a drawing I did of the other characters that will eventually have bodies as part of WUNPO.

I'd like to reiterate that I am not an artist. Please forgive.

Rupali: A Communications Officer for the Special Intervention Unit (SIU) based out of WUNPO headquarters, Rupali Emily Davies works with several different teams in Wren & Jian Yuan's squad, and she's most often assigned to run comms for agents in the unit on special assignments. She was originally to be a Souldoll tan "Queena," but then I discovered that Supia makes a "Tan Rosy," and Queena lost her place in the running.

Tekla: Tekla Else Ahlström is WUNPO's Director, Wren and Jian Yuan's ultimate commander, and often gives them their orders directly. She will be an Iplehouse EID "Jessica Pierrot."

Jackson: Jackson Ward is an SIU field agent with WUNPO, in Wren and Jian Yuan's squad, and often goes on assignment with them. She is a Twigling "Ylisande," but will become a Twigling "Nkiru" when the head is made.

Hunter: Hunter Richard Jamieson is an SIU field agent with WUNPO, in Wren and Jian Yuan's squad. Before joining WUNPO, he was a sharp-shooter with the New York Police Department (NYPD) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit. In SIU, he frequently serves as a sniper and often goes on assignment with Wren and Jian Yuan. His future head mold is still up for debate, but he'll probably be on an Infiniti Doll SID boy body.

Laith: Doctor Laith al-Mehri ibn Mahdi is the head of the infirmary at WUNPO headquarters, and is specifically responsible for maintaining the health of the SIU agents based out of WUNPO headquarters, which includes Wren, Jian Yuan, Hunter, and Jackson. He is a Spirit Doll tan "Echium."

You know, I've totally considered offering "backstory" services before. I hadn't intended to charge for them - mostly just for fun. Something like this:

I sit down with the person (or get on a chat with them, or talk to them via PM or eMail, or whatever) and we discuss what personality traits they feel their doll has, talk about whether their doll has a name or not, or a certain style of clothing they prefer, and whether or not the person has already developed any kind of background for their doll. I also get them to give me at least one or two photos of the doll.

Based on the information above, I construct a narrative that fits what they've given me, and I write a short story or long-ish scene for the owner of the doll that lets them get a feel for the character and that they can keep secret or show to their friends, depending on what they want.

It would be like when people commission artists to draw their dolls, right? Except since I don't draw, and I do write, I'd be writing their dolls instead.

That sounds brilliant! It is something I have considered commissioning before, but not sure how to approach it. For someone like me, who often has trouble even settling on a name for a doll... and I tend to build any notion of character around a doll, not buy the doll because of the character... I mean there is obviously some process in my head but it usually stops at concept and does not move from there. I also enjoy making characters from books, but what you're suggesting is so interesting I would love to sit down and try this out with you sometime. It's like.. I have ideas but not the patience (too scatterbrained) to sit down and forge them into a cohesive whole.

Hey, if you're up for it, just drop me a PM or eMail me at maxwellsdemon02@yahoo.com - we can talk about how to handle it, whether you'd prefer real-time (chat) based discussion or PM/eMail correspondence. I'd love to write a character for you. Pick a doll, and we'll try it! If you want to do more than one, that's cool, too, but I think we should start off with just one, since while I've done similar things before, I've never done exactly this.

I think it would be a lot of fun!
