Chaos Pistol

I'm still cracking away on installment #23 of the Satyr!Crack, and hope to have it up sometime tonight/early this morning(depending on time zones and whether you've been to bed yet or not - I haven't). But I thought I'd share my latest doll-related project in the interim.

This is Davlin's Chaos Pistol, courtesy of some leather, some old watch bits, a few tiny transistors (stolen from a computer motherboard), a fuse or two, some dollhouse-scaled test tubes, some ink, some metallic enamel paint, some copper wire, lots of Super Glue, and a pair of micro-switches that I liberated from one of the junk bins in the hospital Maintenance department. The base of the gun body itself is a flintlock pistol keychain. I've been working on it for several days (mostly in downtimes at work), and it's nearly done - I just have to add the "battery leads" that go up to Davlin's side to actually pull the chaos energy out of him, and it'll be ready to roll.

Also, the belt was made using a strip of leather and the buckle from a watchband, and the little bottle on his left side used to hold Nitro (found empty on the counter in the ER, snagged before it could end up in the trash can).

I had so much fun making this, I'm tempted to see if there's any interest in Steampunk weapon commissions on DoA.

Awesome work... I have serious doubts about the durability of hot glue, but this is just too cool!!!

Ah, but no hot glue was used! ^_^ I tend to burn the SHIT out of myself whenever I pick up a glue gun, so I have Super Glue instead (gluing my fingers together is preferable to burning them, since the glue WILL dissolve if I get my hand into acetone quickly enough, before it sets), which holds like a mofo. It's a cyanoacrylate compound, I believe (though don't quote me on that) that's similar to a quick-setting epoxy. I always give it a full 24 hours to set all the way, just to make sure it's a firm hold.

My bad, I totally read that you had used hot glue to hold it all together, but of course it says Super Glue now that I am re-checking. Excellent work!!! Hope you do more XD

How funny, because I have been thinking about making steampunk guns myself-- fullsized ones. I handled the Grodbort's ones, and was very disappointed-- solid lumps of pot metal, they were....

I've been gathering parts for human-scale steampunk guns myself, for abouta year now! I haven't found quite the right base weapons, yet, so the parts are sitting in my closet, unloved.

I was also disappointed with the Grodbort's line. Some of the details were nice, but overall they really seemed more like Flash Gordon-styled retro rayguns than steampunk guns. A little bit too futuristic, a little lacking in the Victorian department.
