Wren and Darryl

I broke out one of my photography backdrops, and finally got a chance to take a couple of shots of the new Wren and Darryl together. Still getting the hang of this DSLR. It's a doozy, and way more complicated than my previous cameras. It took me ten minutes today just to figure out how to turn off the flash!

I really need to start on the backdrop stand that I've been intending to build. These things make my photos look so much better. I want to get more backdrops, too.





Darryl's head is quite a bit more yellow than his body right now (though the difference is more pronounced in pictures than in person), but I have no doubt that will change as the body mellows. It's currently still paper white.

The brown/fawn coloring of the backdrop works great with the dolls hair and faceup coloring. And Wren looks so badass on that body, it's perfect for her. I love it!
Now I have to ask if you made the backdrop, or found it, or whatall, too.

I found it on eBay. There are a couple of sellers who offer them.

I know, right? For too long, there has been a complete lack of buff female dolls in this hobby. In my opinion this body didn't really achieve the "body builder" look that Humbug had originally asked for, but I love how she turned out! My only complaints are that some of her seams are a bit too prominent (like, "didn't line the molds up correctly" prominent) and I can't remove them because of her skin color not being through-and-through, and the fact that her abs look a bit overdone in comparison to the rest of her sculpt. Well, and her hands are terrible, but I plan on getting her jointed ones, anyway, so that's no biggie.

I love the variety in this hobby so much. A fashion doll will (almost) always be a topheavy nuisance to sew for, but a BJD? CAN BE ANY CRAZY BODY TYPE OUT THERE.

Jointed hands a total must in this case. She needs to be able to hold firearms!

First of all... You bought a camera that has the appeal (for me) that shiny tinfoil has for rats. I'm envious. At the same time, all that complicated gadgetry makes me want to take a hammer to it, so it's best that I don't have that nonsense around me. I comprehend servo motors, not digital cameras and their millions of functions.

^_^;; What took you ten minutes would have probably had me for twenty. I'm honestly not ashamed to say that. I am who I am.

Darryl and Wren are gorgeous. I have to tell you though regarding the coloring of a head versus other body parts-- A lot of people have two-tone colors to their bodies. My own head is often paler than the rest of me because of the copious amounts of sunscreen I slather on it. C'est la vie. If it's in reverse, it's equally normal...And it's not at all visible. It's natural looking, is what I'm saying. I think they're fantastic.

...Bit intimidating, but fantastic.

...And I miss reading and hearing about them!

Yeah, the variation in skintone throughout the body is a big part of why I'm fairly relaxed about resin match in my collection. As long as it's mostly close and the same general shade, I'm happy.
