The Precognist: Zsuzsa in Progress (2)

The eyes I ordered for Zsuzsa arrived a couple weeks ago. Yesterday the snakeskin vinyl for her tail came in the mail (so I'll be getting to work on actually building her tail soon), along with the metallic micropearl powders I'd ordered to do her faceup. So today I sat down and gave it a whirl. It's been a long time since I painted a doll, and I can't do realistic faceups to save my life. Thankfully, Zsuzsa's species doesn't have eyebrows or eyelashes (the only hair on their bodies is the stuff on top of their heads, and even that is very, very fine), so they paint them on, and more powerful (eg: richer) ones like Zsuzsa and Jisszhurat (and one of the baddies from the story) mix powdered metals in with their face paints (or at least, that's the current style). And that painted-on look is something I can pull off.

She's not wearing her coin belt in these - she's just wrapped in a bit of scarf - but it works well enough for now.

I've never used the Volks Zoukeimura Finishing spray on a head before, and it's interesting. Feels VERY weird on my fingers. The spray acted up a bit in a couple spots, and it looks like she's got some very old, subtle scarring on her face. I actually kind of like the effect, so it'll stay for now - at least, until I decide to either take another crack at her face or pay someone else to do a professional job on her. ^___^

Thanks! The squiggle will probably change any time her faceup changes, but its presence will be pretty consistent.

Very cool and unique both in character and resin shell. And very cool choice of eyes. I would have never thought to go to a taxidermist. Looking forward to seeing more of her with her tail.

I've seen other people use taxidermy eyes, and in this case, it seemed appropriate. I'm getting some for Jisszhurat, too, once I manage to buy his head.

I think your faceups are getting more and more refined and precise. I'm always amazed by the way you pursue a project--you have got vision as well as tremendous patience. Watching Zsuzsa emerge is an incredible blast.

Really wonderful faceup job for her--the Zouk spray I found has quite a diff texture from MSC, and I'm convinced they should be used for different things or different stages of the faceup or something, just haven't worked it out!

I love the metallic sheen on the brows and lids, the braids just add something very cool. Those those eyes! perfect!!

I like the mold for this--the emphatic neck musculature makes sense for a creature who may be leveraging her body horizontally a lot. I like her hands in that last shot too.

I'm not talented enough to get particular about which kind of spray I'm using for what (aside from using only Zouk spray on darker-skinned dolls, since MSC lightens their resin too much, and makes the heads not match the bodies). I've got two cans of each type, and just happened to grab the Zouk this time. ^_^

I adore the TL2 body. Jackson is on the same one, actually, since she's a Ylisande. It's kinda-almost breaking my self-imposed "only one doll with each body type" rule, but I decided a while back that dolls with considerable modifications (like weird lower legs or lower halves, or multiple arms) are exempt from that rule. There are already too many considerations to take into account there anyway.

She is royalty, kind of. Of the criminal-underworld sort. Not royal by blood - their nation doesn't have a monarchy, anyway - but definitely powerful enough to be the next best thing.
