Re that second one: I noticed the post in your LJ a bit back where you mentioned the Uncanny Valley. It's most often referenced in robotics, though I know a lot of people (myself included) are now applying to things like ABJD as well. I even brought my dolls into my critical theory course in the past, to demonstrate the Uncanny Valley (unheimlich) concept to my classmates.
Anyway, are you familiar with Boston Dynamics' "Big Dog" project?
